It’s a privilege to create a brand and then be able to re-brand it after more than a decade of success.
Our story starts when we originally named the winery See Ya Later Ranch (SYL) from Hawthorne Mountain and created a line-up of playful wine varietals.
A Pioneering Duo and Love for Dogs
Capturing the winery’s colourful history and its fun personality, we focused the brand on the history of the original vineyard owner, Major Hugh Fraser, and his son Bill, who were part of a small group of visionaries and pioneers that brought the wine industry to the Okanagan. While Bill planted the grapes and oversaw the vineyard, Major Fraser lived on the winery with his numerous, beloved dogs.
Retaining Brand Equity
For the re-brand 12 years later, we took great care to retain the core brand equities—the essentials to the brand DNA —while creating a new visual vocabulary that further reflected the wines’ award-winning quality.
SYL was relaunched to great fanfare and enthusiastic reception, coinciding with their Rover blend winning The Premier’s Award for the best wine in BC for 2014.
Our story ends with a side perk of creating wine brands—consuming them! Our favourite is Ping, also named after one of Major Fraser’s dogs.
